TICKETS: Free, please register at http://inthisplaceinhistory.eventbrite.co.uk

How do you tell the story of a city’s past? Why does the urban landscape matter? And how do you convey it to a reader? History Matters blog editor, Caroline Dodds Pennock, will chair a panel discussion with writer Charlie Connelly and historians Caoimhe Nic Dháibhéid (Modern Ireland/terrorism) and James Shaw (Renaissance Italy), on the challenges of telling stories about the history of cities – and what difficulties this presents to their work.

Charlie Connelly is a bestselling author and award-winning broadcaster, who has written ten books including And Did Those Feet: Walking Through 2000 Years Of British And Irish History. If you are unable to attend, you can submit a question for the panel via twitter to @unishefhistory. The event will also be streamed afterwards on the blog http://www.historymatters.group.shef.ac.uk/.
